In the past two years I have produced three new PowerShell books – Exchange 2019, Security and Compliance Center and an intro to basic PowerShell. I am now in the process finalizing the post production of my Exchange Online PowerShell book, Second Edition, which is an update to the original one I created two years ago. Right now I am in the process of considering a model change to all subscriptions for my books. The reasoning is that, like a lot of other books on Office 365, readers are afraid that the content will go stale quickly and that a book purchased will be worthless in less than 6 months.
Considering this dilemma, I contemplating the conversion of three of my books to a subscription model. These books will be my Exchange 2019, Exchange Online and Security and Compliance Center books. The subscription would be for a set price and good for a year of updates. With this many books, I will not be able to update each book, each month. Currently my thought is to update the Exchange Online and Security and Compliance Center books every other month as they would experience the most changes. For the Exchange 2019 server book, I will update that every 3 or 4 months, simply because changes do not come as quickly for an on-premises product.
I do reserve the right to update any book more frequently if something important arises.
I am going to leave a brief poll below to see what others think of this change. In the meantime, look for the new Exchange Online PowerShell book very soon!
